01

Build around the route and the flame

Emberward combines maze building with tower defense rather than giving every tower an identical firing opportunity. Tetromino blocks shape the routes that monsters follow toward your flame. Tower range, footprint and attack behavior therefore matter alongside damage. The collected official information does not establish one opening layout that works on every map.

The developer’s 1.0 balance explanation compares towers in situations where they can use their strengths. Sniper Tower is discussed in terms of sustained damage against a large target, while Fireball Tower is evaluated against groups. A raw damage number alone does not describe those different jobs. A universal starting build is 待确认 because the research contains no controlled playthroughs.

02

Check the tower values before spending

Version 1.0 removed Basic Tower, so an opening guide that requires it is outdated for that release. Magic Arrow Tower’s cost changed from 15 to 20, while Barrage Tower’s cost changed from 85 to 95. Scrap Tower’s ammunition changed from 30 to 20, alongside a damage increase from 2 to 4. These are documented changes, not a complete price list for every tower.

Two additions give different placement problems: Volcano Tower occupies 3×3 tiles and Sentry Tower occupies 1×1. Volcano launches magma orbs that explode on impact and have a high chance to inflict Burn. Sentry enters Alert Mode after a period without attacking and gains attack speed when monsters arrive. Exact Sentry timing and attack-speed multipliers are 待确认.

03

Read the trigger before choosing a relic

Relics can connect different effects, but the condition is part of the effect. Frost Venom applies one Chill stack each second to poisoned monsters, which means poison must already be present. Ember Guardian instead creates five random buff tiles within the fire’s attack range at the start of a stage. Neither description proves that its relic is always the strongest choice.

The 1.0 Volatile Poison effect is more conditional: a poisoned monster affected by Burn can explode once every five seconds. It consumes half the Poison and deals twice that amount as Fire damage split between nearby monsters within 2.5 tiles. Hitting another poisoned monster can trigger a chain reaction. This is a documented interaction, not a tested promise of unlimited damage.

04

Understand progress and the next region

The 1.0 release adds Void Depths after Sealed Citadel. Clearing Void Depths on Normal or higher unlocks Void Flame. Special Event Characters and Infernal Shards require a full-game clear, so players returning from Early Access may need to clear the new region to restore access. For that restoration, the announcement specifies any difficulty.

Permanent talents belong to progression, while relics and tower choices shape a particular run. The research does not contain a complete current talent tree or an optimal purchase order. The Mad Genius achievement specifically requires clearing Void Depths on Heroic without talents. That is a challenge condition, not the recommended starting path for a new player.

05

Choose the mode you mean

Official announcements describe a standalone Endless Mode and two campaign continuation options. More Challenges! continues waves on a cleared level; More Levels! continues the adventure after the final boss. The archived announcement says optional extra waves do not award experience. Those options should not be conflated with a normal campaign clear or advertised as an experience farm.

Earlier official notes say standalone Endless unlocks after clearing Misty Forest on any difficulty, with available maps still tied to progress. The later 1.0 announcement adds region-specific achievements and changes challenge scaling. Exact fastest unlock routes and first-run completion times are 待确认. Use the linked topic guides for the documented requirements before committing to a particular goal.
